Christmas in Every Room,The Dining Room

More vintage stockings! These came from an estate sale, the red chair features a lovely vintage velvet stocking with real rabbit fur,a chenille Santa and intricate beading. The stocking on the blue chair is an absolute favorite. For my eyes I'm not sure I have ever seen a more beautiful stocking! This one also has very intricate beading(you may click on any image to enlarge). The name on the stocking is Hattie, that was my Grandmas name and was also on my name list for the little blossom. Ofcourse it was vetoed right away,I would have fought for it except my Grandmother did not even like it,she chose to go by a nick-name. I still love the name though and it pleases me enormously that someone else loved it so much that they created this beautiful work of art!
For my centerpiece I am using the Nambe candlestix with vintage candles. They are covered with frosting ,glitter, sequins, shiny holly leaves, and a liberal dose of kitsch! These and the little angel candlestix were scavenged at estate sales for practically nothing.
The focus of the dining room table goes to this gorgeous Jack Frost ,completely handmade by my sister Durelle(don't you wish she had a blog?). She used soft sculpture for his body and hands ,designed and sewed the clothes. Sculpted his lovely face from paper mache and then hand-painted it!There is no detail spared on this amazing heirloom from the icicles hanging from his dolman sleeves to the inscription on the bottom of his stand "Only he holds the key to Winter". Do you see whats on his belt?
Family and tradition will always be at the center of Christmas for me and I hope "Jack" sees many ,many generations of my family.

Wow! The Jack Frost is awesome. I thought it was from those claymation Christmas specials. (You know, Rudolph, Jack Frost, Baby New Year, etc.) There's one with an icy guy who looks like that...

I haven't had a christmas with you in far too long. I still remember the Christmas prom dress...

Always been a fan of Durelle's work but that Santa is HEAVENLY.

Hattie's a great name but the one I always loved when you were pregnant with your first little blossom was

Velveeta Spread.

AHAHAHAHAHAHA!
